What is an ignition interlock device?
An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breath-alcohol tester wired directly into your vehicle's ignition. Before the vehicle will start, you provide a breath sample. If alcohol above a preset limit is detected, the vehicle won't start. IIDs are often required by a court or the DMV after certain DUI cases, and many drivers in Florida are told which provider to use before they ever pick up the phone. Whatever your situation, the physical install and ongoing calibrations still have to happen somewhere local — and that's where we come in.
Are you a certified IID installer?
Yes. Auto Sound is a certified local installation and calibration location for Intoxalock, Smart Start, and LifeSafer. If a provider has already assigned you a device, you don't need to drive out of the area to get it installed — bring it to our shop right here in Cape Coral and we'll handle it.
What should I expect at my install?
We keep the process quick and low-key. The device is placed discreetly and out of sight, the install is usually done the same day, and before you leave we walk you through exactly how it works — how to give a clean breath sample, what the prompts mean, and how to avoid common mistakes. What about ongoing calibrations?
Ignition interlock devices need periodic calibration on a set schedule to stay compliant. We handle those calibrations locally in Cape Coral, so you're not driving across the county every time one comes due. Keep your appointments on schedule and we'll keep the device reading correctly.
